Lofthouse Publishing offers two types of electronic mail, E-mail Forwarding and POP3/IMAP compliant E-mail. Either type of account is available with our basic web hosting service.
E-mail forwarding:
We configure the server to forward any E-mail received by your Lofthouse Publishing E-mail account to your regular E-mail account. This is the default configuration.
POP3 E-mail
Mail that is sent to your account on our server stays on the server until you use a POP3/IMAP compliant E-mail reader such as Netscape or Eudora to read it.
Set up your reader as follows: (not all fields apply to all readers)
(Replace all instances of username with the username for your account. If you have your own domain name, or are hosted on one of our other servers, replace YOUR_DOMAIN.ZZZ with your domain name.)
Account or Incoming Server: username@YOUR_DOMAIN.ZZZ
POP3 Username: username@YOUR_DOMAIN.ZZZ or username@YOUR_DOMAIN.ZZZ
Password: same as the password for your username
SMTP or Outgoing Server: Use the mail server provided by your web access provider (or smtp.YOUR_DOMAIN.ZZZ)
Reply to: username@YOUR_DOMAIN.ZZZThe easiest thing to do when setting up an new POP account is to follow the pattern that is already in your e-mail software.
Validate Before Send
Our mail servers are configured to require a valid log-in before you can use our server to send e-mail. To log-in, simply check your POP e-mail.
Spam
We do not allow unsolicited bulk e-mail to originate from or to advertise sites on our servers. Sending such e-mail is grounds for terminating an account. Send complaints to abuse@lofthouse.com
Junk Mail
We maintain a list of known spammers and junk mailers, and do not accept mail received from them. If you are receiving repeated junk mail at your Lofthouse e-mail address and would like to have it stopped at the server, please forward a copy of the offending junk mail, with complete headers, to abuse@lofthouse.com
