Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do you support ASP, Active Server Pages, or Microsoft Access?
A: No. Since our servers run Unix, we cannot directly support ASP or Microsoft Access. We support a similar Unix based tool called PHP3. http://www.php.net/ which works in unison with a database called MySQL http://www.MySQL.com which is compatible with Access through ODBC. We also support Microsoft® FrontPage® 2000, which can write Access compatible text files. Or you may write your own scripts to generate Access compatible files.
Q: Do I have to keep my dial-up access account?
A: Yes. Your dial-up access account connects you to the Internet. Once you are connected to the Internet you may create or modify files on the web server. The web server has a constant connection to the Internet.
Q: Will you host Adult Only materials on your site?
A: No.
Q: Do you offer 24x7 support?
A: The servers are attended 24x7 by real people, and monitored around the clock by software. The business office and customer support hours vary from day to day. There is typically someone around from 9AM to Midnight Eastern Time, unless we're all out. E-mail is the most reliable way to get support.
Q: I mis-typed something into an automated web page, Guestlist, or entry form. Can you correct it?
A: Yes, send an E-mail to support@Lofthouse.com describing what page the error was on, and what needs to be fixed. The more specific you can be about the location and nature of the error, the better.
Q: Do you charge for bandwidth or number of hits?
A: No, but Mammoth server performance starts to degrade at about 50,000 hits a day. The Standard and Deluxe servers support fewer hits/day. If you develop a very popular web site, you may want us to design a higher capacity server for you.
Q: Will you park domains for me?
A: Yes, but other places can do it for a much lower price.
Q: How do I sign up for a web account?
A: Our online order form is at http://www.lofthouse.com/host/order.html
Q: Why don't you host government web sites?
A: Because of issues of jurisdiction, we do not host web sites for government agencies.
