Aunt Lou was married to Sam McMurdie. He got called on a mission. In those days you just picked up and left. You went without purse or script. You depended on the people to provide for you.

Aunt Lou had a cow who had just freshened. She took the first cream from it after the milk was good and made it into a pound of butter. Emma Bishop would go over and help her every day. Aunt Lou said,"Em, I want you to take this butter over to the bishop's storehouse." (You know where that is don't you? Its north of where the store is now. They call it the relic hall (1985).) They used to own the farm whites have now.

They lived up the hollow on the other side of the river. It was about two miles into the bishop's storehouse. She said, "No, I won't take it. You need it more than the bishop does." Aunt Lou told her to take the butter to the storehouse and she would trust in the Lord to provide for her.

Emma took the butter over to the bishop and when she got back there was a pound of butter sitting on the table. She asked, "Where did you get that?" Aunt Lou responded, "I told you the Lord would provide."
