Ancestry is one of the nation's leading genealogy book publishers, well-regarded for The Source: A Guidebook of American Genealogy, and Ancestry's Redbook, among other popular titles. When the publishers created a Web site, they decided to add one searchable genealogy database per weekday to their collection. This marks an incredible commitment of time and resources to aid family historians.
These databases were presented free for 10 days, then reverted to the subscription portion of the library. There is a monthly fee if you wish to use the searchable databases. While we do not promote commercial entities per se, these items are included here for your information. You may view the page to read the description of the database. If you submit a name and ask the computer to check the database, you will be told the number of "hits" or matches. When you attempt to view the matches, you will be prompted for your membership user ID and password. These publications are also available at the LDS Family History Library, the Church Historian's Office (except SSDI) and other major libraries in Utah.
