Millard County Records
 
 This is a long document with information regarding birth, death, cemetery, court, probate, ect. records.  I suggest printing it for future reference.  I've done my best to include important addresses to write to for information.  If you see any mistakes or omissions, please let me know!
 
1.  According to Utah state law, birth and death certificates are closed to researchers for seventy-five    years without the written approval of the subject of the record.

2.  Civil registration of marriages was not required in Utah until 1887.

3.  Marriages before 1887 -  Check county justice of peace, probate court records, other court matters,  may have been recorded in land records,  pre 1887 may have been performed by an L.D.S. bishop or clergyman of a non Mormon denomination.

4. Certificates for births and deaths began in 1905 and from then until the present can be obtained from:

5.  Birth records can also be found in midwives' and physician's records which are on microfilm and can be ordered through a Family History Center Library near you.
 
6. Census Records:

Federal  Population Schedules.
Indexed—1850, 1860, 1870, 1880
Soundex—1880, 1900
Unindexed—1910

Mortality Schedules.
1850, 1860, 1870, 1880

Union Veterans Schedules.
1890

Territorial or State censuses:
1852, 1856, 1872, and 1896 with enumeration's derived from tax lists
1852 Bishops Reports, listing L.D.S. heads of households in each ward (available on microfilm with an index through Family History Center Library)

6.  Homestead Act: not in effect Utah until 1869.

7.  County courts were created in 1849, overseeing civil and criminal cases. (before that, LDS Bishops Courts)
