The Western Mining and Railroad Museum - built in 1914 as the Helper Hotel. The building was later purchased by the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad to house their crews. In 1982 it was purchased by Helper City to be used as a museum.

Barboglio Building Helper Main Street
This building was built in 1907 by Joe Barboglio. He made all the cement blocks used in its construction. The building housed a small store and saloon downstairs and a hotel upstairs. This store also housed the first office of the Helper State Bank organized in 1910 by Mr. Barboglio. (Discription and photo scanned from historical calendar created by Carbon County.)

This rock formation stands at the V in the road. The road on the left goes to Standardville and the road on the right side goes to Spring Canyon Town. At the top of the rock formation was a tennis court for the use of Spring Canyon residents and on the left side of the mountain the rock is in the formation of an Indian face. Pavlos and Theodosa Rutzakis married 1921 in Spring Canyon. The photo is actually a second wedding photo taken some years after they were married. Pavlos didn't like the first wedding photo because he was sick with scarlet fever and had lost a lot of his famous red hair. Pavlos Rutzakis was sheriff in the mid 1920's to mid 1930's in Rains. Pavlos Rutzakis of Spring Canyon is sitting on the right in his traditional Cretan outfit, including the pistol in the sash. Also in the photo are his brothers George, Steve and Harry. Pavlos later became the sheriff of Rains.
