The Hobson Family Data Exchange is a clearing house for Hobson family researchers. The exchange was created and is maintained by Jay Hobson. Advertisements are posted in major genealogical periodicals encouraging people researching a Hobson line to contact the exchange for a printout on their specific Hobson line. Additional information and corrections are then submitted by the researcher to update the data base.
The major computer data base contains over 24,000 people either descending directly or related to descendants of George and Elizabeth Hobson. Another data base contains over 7,000 people related to all Hobson lines other than the George Hobson line. The George Hobson data base is one of the largest, if not the largest, data bases of its kind.
Information from all known Hobson publications has been entered into these data bases as well as contributions from over 400 people researching Hobson lines. Libraries of deceased Hobson researchers have been acquired and pertinent Hobson information has been loaded into the data bases. Contributors are notified of other people researching their same line as well as major breakthroughs on their line. There is no charge.
A book containing 12,000 names from the database has been published.
